Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of this website and the booking of tutoring sessions with Upshot ("we", "us"). By using the site or booking a session, you agree to them. If you're booking for a student under 18, you confirm you are their parent or legal guardian.

Booking

Submitting the booking form reserves a session time and generates a confirmation email. A booking is a scheduling agreement, not a prepayment — no money changes hands online. We may decline or reschedule a booking (for example, a schedule conflict or an area we don't serve); if we do, we'll contact you promptly and you owe nothing.

You agree to provide accurate contact information. If we can't reach you to confirm details for an in-person session, we may treat the booking as cancelled.

Payment and cancellation

Payment is due at the end of each session, in person, by cash or Zelle. Cancellations require 24 hours' notice. The full policy, including late-cancellation and no-show terms, is in our Cancellation & Payment Policy and is part of these terms.

Tutoring outcomes

Tutoring is an educational service. We do not guarantee any particular SAT score, score increase, or admission outcome — see the Tutoring Disclaimer, which is part of these terms.

Liability & assumption of risk

Sessions take place at the student's home, at public locations such as Monmouth County library branches, or online. You agree that:

• A parent or guardian is responsible for the student's transportation to and from any session location, and for supervision of minors before and after the scheduled session time.
• For sessions in your home, you are responsible for providing a safe, appropriate workspace. For sessions in public locations, the rules of that venue apply.
• We are not responsible for incidents outside our reasonable control, including conditions of the session premises, actions of third parties, or events occurring outside the scheduled session.

To the fullest extent permitted by New Jersey law, our total liability arising out of tutoring services or this website is limited to the amount you paid us for the session giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Website use

The content of this site — text, design, and imagery — belongs to SAM Tutors and may not be copied for commercial use. Don't misuse the booking system (for example, holding slots you don't intend to use); we may cancel abusive bookings.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. Any dispute will be handled in the state courts of Monmouth County, New Jersey.
