Upshot is a three-person tutoring business. This policy describes what we collect through this website, why, and what we do — and don't do — with it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to schedule and run tutoring sessions, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
What we collect
When you book a session, we collect:
- The student's name
- An email address and phone number
- The tutor, subject, date, time, and location preference you choose
- Anything you write in the optional notes field
When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. The site never asks for payment information — payment happens in person. If we enable Google Analytics, it collects anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, approximate region) via cookies; we don't use advertising trackers.
How it's stored
Booking information is stored in a private hosted database (Supabase, hosted in the United States) that only the three tutors can access, behind a password. Confirmation emails are delivered through our email provider. We keep booking records so tutors can see their schedules and cancel or reschedule sessions; records older than a year are periodically deleted.
How it's used
Your information is used only to:
- Reserve the session you booked and prevent double-booking
- Send confirmation emails to you and your tutor
- Contact you about scheduling changes
- Answer questions you send us
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing. The only parties that process it are the service providers that make the site work (our hosting, database, and email providers), and they process it solely on our behalf.
Your choices
To see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you or your student, email hello@upshotprep.com from the address you booked with, or call (732) 555-0148. We'll confirm within a few business days. Note that deleting an upcoming booking cancels it.
Children
Bookings should be made by a parent or guardian, or by students 16 or older. The information we hold about students is limited to what a parent or guardian submits through the booking form.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be mentioned by email to families with upcoming sessions.
